Earlier this year, Diana Nyad, the iconic 64 year old endurance swimmer, accomplished her life long dream of swimming from Havana, Cuba to Key West, Florida. Her feat took headlines across the globe.
Only weeks later, Team Nyad, Proctor and Gamble, and SWP teamed up to further astonish the world by building a swimming pool in Herald Square, NY for Diana to swim in for 48 straight hours. Her goal was to raise money for Hurricane Sandy Victims, after the storm devasted various parts of New York a year ealier. Ryan Lochte, Richard Simmons, and other celebrities and volunteers swam beside Diana throughout the event. Her swim took the media by storm, as Robin Roberts broadcasted Good Morning America from the pool’s deck as Diana entered and exited the pool. Diana was able to raise over $100,000.00 dollars in 48 hours.
